South African Broadcast 1994

It was an emotional night when Whitney Houston performed at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 12 November 1994. Just six months earlier, Nelson Mandela made world history when he became the first Black President of South Africa, and, after years of Apartheid and artists' boycotts, here was one of the most successful Black singers of the era, performing to a capacity crowd in a country torn apart by racism. Marking Houston's first decade in the industry, the performance captured on South African Broadcast is nothing short of a victory lap for the star, and she belts out all those signature hits - 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody', 'I Will Always Love You', 'I'm Every Woman' etc with astonishing prowess. If you've ever wondered why legendary label exec Clive Davis called Houston "The Voice", this broadcast recording has the answer. 2CD format.
