Martin Rev - Les Nymphes (CD)

Martin Rev's album "Les Nymphes" is a blend of experimental and electronic music, reflecting his innovative approach as a member of the influential synth-punk duo Suicide. Released in 2008, the album marks a return to dream-like synth textures reminiscent of artists like Coil and Brian Eno. However, it received mixed reviews, with some critics finding it inventive but overall disappointing due to its reliance on certain effects and lack of substance. The album explores themes of mythology and altered states of reality, which aligns with Rev's tendency to experiment and push boundaries. Despite its experimental nature, "Les Nymphes" is often criticized for its overuse of phase-shifting effects and a somewhat incomplete feel. The genre is primarily experimental electronic, which is characteristic of Rev's work outside of Suicide. While it may not live up to the expectations set by his previous work, "Les Nymphes" showcases Rev's continued willingness to explore new sonic landscapes.
